Rudi Le Roux
Rudi le Roux is presently working for the South African Broadcasting Corporation, the SABC, as a specialist cameraman/video editor, at their Political Desk at Parliament. His career spans over 33 years in the broadcasting industry, of which 7 years were spend at their Main Office in Auckland Park, Johannesburg.
His love for wine started many years ago and he was the co-founder of the Rouxbert Wine Circle in the early 90’s. This wine circle went on to win the inaugural “Zonnebloem Wine Goblet” for the best wine circle of the year in 1998.
In 1998 he also came 3rd in the National Zonnebloem “wine taster of the year competition” held by Stellenbosch Farmer Winery, now Distell.
From 1998 to 2008 he was the chairperson of the 45 year old Heerengracht Wine Circle, which was started by the late Gideon Joubert.
At present, he is on the wine panel of Shoprite/Checkers, who tastes and chooses wine for their shops across South Africa.
Rudi completed the Garagiste wine making course at the Stellenbosch University in 2008.
2007: Started Notre Rêve Wines.
2008: Crafted the 2008 Notre Rêve Syrah
2009: Changed suppliers and produced a Syrah from Diemersdal grapes
2010: Followed the 2009 Syrah with a 2010 Syrah and a Mourvèdre from the Voor Paardeberg wine region.
Began studying to become an Electrical Engineer but his financial situation forced him to work in order to earn enough money to complete his studies. Patrick has worked as a specialist Cellar Assistant during the 2011 harvest season and will continue doing so during 2012
2006: Started his Electrical Engineering studies
2011: Qualified as a Cellar Assistant at Notre Rêve Wines
